The Eviva Choir

Eviva is an ambitious women's choir, founded in the winter of 2002. Although the choir is young, the singers have often gained their spurs in student choirs and other ensembles. We are mostly women aged 30+, who enjoy singing in a choir and want it to be a challenging, exciting and fun experience. It will soon be 10 years of singing in conserts, different events and competitions that has made Eviva the choir it is today. Eviva's choral director is, since autumn 2010, Hanna Kronqvist.

We practice on Tuesday evenings at the premises of the male choir Muntra Musikanter in Helsinki. In addition to our regular practices we have a choir seminar (fri-sat) twice a year with intensive practice. Eviva performs both sacred and popular music. Normally we prepare for concerts during spring and autumn..

Our very own record, carries the name "KaikkiAllt" and was released in December 2004.. On the CD Eviva commissioned music from three prominent composers and Finnish women: Anna-Mari Kähärä, Mia Makaroff and Säde Rissanen. They were given freedom to choose the texts from the production of two great and old Finnish poets, Eino Leino and Johan Ludvig Runeberg. KaikkiAllt is a blend of young and old, contemporary and traditional, male and female.

Any questions and enquiries about the choir can be sent by e-mail to the choir's president: stenberg.jenny(at)gmail.com or PR officer: henrika.zilliacus(at)helsinki.fi.
